Hi, I’m James Thomson, a self-taught photographer from the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. I started taking photography seriously in 2023 after deciding not to continue my Master’s in Physiotherapy and it’s been an incredible journey ever since.

Picking up a camera allowed me to express my creativity in the world of sport in a way I hadn’t previously considered. In a short time I’ve had the opportunity to work with professional sports teams across Scotland. Through my presence on social media I’ve been able to share my experiences with thousands of people across the world.

I’ve learnt everything I know by taking on every opportunity that comes my way. I’ve always found the best way to learn is by doing. I love sharing that journey where I hope to inspire others to pursue a career in sports media. There’s still so much I have to learn but that’s what excites me. I’m looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me next!

I currently shoot with two Sony A7IV cameras, ensuring high-quality images and video in any setting. My main lenses include the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 for long-range action, the Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 for versatile mid-range shots, and the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 for wide-angle and portrait work. This setup allows me to capture everything from fast-paced sports to detailed event coverage with precision and clarity. I'm always looking to improve my gear when funds allow, ensuring I can continue delivering the best possible results.
